South African Nationals is drawing closer…
Cape Town is sending 2 teams up to the 2009 South African National Championships being held in Johannesburg on the weekend of 3-4 October. Those 2 teams are defending National champions Chilli and CT Winter League winners Zebru, and with both teams having recruited a few extra players to bulk out their line up, they should both be very competitive. If the info I have is correct, the opposing teams will be:
From JHB – Ultitude & Disco
From KZN – Long Donkeys & Prawn Bunny
From across the border – Mozambique & Swaziland
Rumours floating along the Ultimate grapevine suggest that the Cape Town teams will have their work cut out for them in Joburg and so both teams have been putting in some hard training to fight the inevitable altitude burn…
Does anyone have any predictions on the performance of our CT teams at Nationals? Lets hear your comments below…

As a one-time campaigner for Zebru (in it’s previous medical incarnation), I will wish them well.
But, as a born and trained Joburger, I think it’s about time the Ultitude got to be National Champs. (I also lay claim to coming up with the name Ultitude in the first place)
So, Ultitude vs Zebru in the final. Hard D’s and some great combos from Steve and Pinky, but in the end it’s Ryan’s hucks to Baden and Dyllan that give Ultitude the (sweet, sweet) victory.
I would put money on a repeat of last year’s RockTober final: Donkeys v Chilli.
Both sides are rumoured to have big squads with Donkey’s apparently bringing quality ladies to the tournament along with their thumbers and height. And of course their burning hunger to win.
Chilli have discipline, excellent receivers and the best throwers in the country.
But Z-Bru will be there abouts as will Ultitude.
Don’t underestimate the power of the PRAWN….
There are good teams out there for sure, and the contest will be HOT.
Chilli might have been working their recruitment technique a little more than actual game play, so I think they might just be all bark and no bite.
Zebru are working the low key vibe for now cos we don’t want to peak too early… Ha ha ha! Its going to be a huge weekend…
Bonesaw is ready!
Well done PMB, a great effort to make the final and a great game to watch. I guess, in the end, Chilli had the bite to match their bark. Epic final.
