Battle of the AGES!!!!!!

For 2008 Spring League, Cape Town Ultimate has resorted to trying to answer an age old  question:  Is youth or experience better?  And so this Monday, the Battle of the Ages will begin!   Neal has done a great job of splitting all of the Cape Town players by age and placing them on five equal teams.    You can find your team and schedule on the league page.  You can also check out what will be your stiff composition to find the best age for playing Ultimate!

So who will it be?  Who will win the Battle of the Ages?  Will it be Ant and the wise, old veterans that take the cup?  Or will Asanda and the youngin’s run circles around us all? Will Steve C really be able to prove that 30 is the new 21 and dominate the opposition?  Does Mike Harber’s team have that perfect balance by being right in the middle?  Or will Pinky’s team prove their mettle and take the league?   Feel free to post your predictions and trash talk in the comments and good luck to all the teams!

Roctober 2008

For anyone interested, Rocktober is happening the 11th and 12th of October.   It is a really fun tournament, with lots of good friends, and good play.  For more details, please see their flyers.   I know that we are trying to put together two teams from Cape Town and we are still having plenty of room for more players, so  feel free to contact Steve Crawford for more information about going!

WUGC 2008

During the first week of August 2008, a small group of players from Cape Town, Johannesburg, and abroad came together in Vancouver, Canada to represent South Africa in the World Ultimate and Guts Championships.  Cape Town was well represented by the likes of Mike Harber, Chris Webster, Tavish DeAtley, Brent Davidson, Steve Crawford, Finn De Hann, James Moolenschot, Darren ‘Pinky’ Rennie, and Captain Andre Standings.  All of the official results can be found at the WUGC site, but I don’t think the final standings reflect how hard everyone played.  However, to get a better idea about the unofficial results and what amazing time the team had, a full write-up of tournament and pictures can be found on the SA mens blog site.  It was truly a fantastic experience filled with great spirit and we were all very proud to represent South Africa!  And one final note, hill sprint training for 2012 starts on Friday!
