Cape Town Ultimate

UCT UF (Ultimate Frisbee) would like to invite you all to Springfest – hopefully the first of many annual indoor tournaments.

When: September 25th (Saturday, Most of the Day)
Where: UCT Sports Center (upper campus), Hall 2
How: Up to 8 mixed teams of up to 10 players each. A maximum of 80 players will be allowed to enter.
What: Round robin Tournament with each team playing a minimum of 6 games of 15 – 20 minutes, depending on the final number of teams.
Cost: R100 (UCT students – R80)
Half the profit is to go as a contribution towards Rob Lloyd and his family to help with his
medical treatment costs.

I have always found it fairly hard to imagine the early days of Ultimate. The fact that it started in 1968 was really just a number to me and I never actually visualised what it would have been like back in the early days.

Like Nick Cage in a bad treasure hunt movie, I have discovered and dusted the cobwebs off my old hard drive and recovered my video editing project from Nationals ‘06.
Yes, its beyond overdue, and might be outdated to the point of antiquity, but that makes it even more cool to watch. See some old legends in full action and see some current legends looking younger, fitter and with more hair. Witness the scraggly beginnings of teams that  grew to dominate, awesome full game footage, many magic game moments and off-field extras…
